Meghan Markle Dazzles at 2024 ESPY Awards, But Fashion Critics Weigh In

Meghan Markle made quite a splash at the 2024 ESPY Awards, stepping onto the scene in a stunning white gown that instantly reminded fans of her iconic 2018 wedding reception dress by Stella McCartney.

This time, however, she opted for a custom creation by Oscar de la Renta, featuring a chic high neck halter top and a sweeping skirt that echoed the elegance of her previous look.

Yet, the new design included draped fabric around the neckline, differing from the more fitted style of her earlier gown.

Accessorizing her outfit with a minimalist approach, Meghan wore Lorraine Schwartz emerald-cut diamond stud earrings valued at around $450,000.

She also sported her ex-husband’s Cartier love bracelet, which retails for $7,350, alongside her wedding and engagement rings, as well as a striking gold diamond ring on her other hand.

To complete her ensemble, she chose strappy black heels that showcased a pale pink pedicure, harmonizing beautifully with her neutral nail polish.

Styled by Jamie Mizrahi, known for her work with A-list celebrities like Adele and Jennifer Lawrence, Meghan’s look was polished to perfection.

Makeup artist Daniel Martin crafted a natural beauty look that complemented the gown’s sophistication.

However, despite the star-studded styling team, some critics voiced their disappointment, labeling the outfit as unremarkable and commenting on its resemblance to her past attire.

They noted that the gown seemed bland and poorly fitted around the hips, failing to create the desired silhouette.

In a strategic move likely influenced by ongoing discussions surrounding ‘s award, the couple chose to bypass the red carpet.

Nonetheless, Meghan did manage to flaunt her dress in front of cameras after Harry took the stage, posing for pictures with none other than tennis legend Serena Williams backstage.

Standing alongside Serena, Meghan’s proportions drew attention; her petite frame contrasted with the athlete’s broader shoulders, sparking comparisons.

Critics were quick to point out that the high neckline of Meghan’s gown didn’t quite mesh well with the stiff fabric, leading to an awkward fit that puckered around her hips rather than elegantly hugging her figure.

Despite her efforts to make a statement, Meghan found herself overshadowed by other attendees who made bolder fashion choices that evening.

Among the standout looks was Livvy Dunn, the National Champion gymnast from Louisiana State University, who was hailed for her best-dressed title at the event.

Dunn dazzled in a plaited gold halter neck gown by Sherri Hill, characterized by a trendy keyhole cutout.

Her ensemble embraced a 1970s vibe, complete with shimmering fabrics and metallic hues, making her a true showstopper on the red carpet.

Tennis superstar and host of the night, Serena Williams, turned heads in a sleek silver and black gown.

Her light blonde hair styled in bouncy waves elevated her glamorous appearance, ensuring she remained a focal point throughout the evening.

Lindsey Vonn also made a bold statement in a daring yellow dress featuring a side cutout and thigh-high slit, paired with strappy black heels that highlighted her figure.

Halle Bailey brought the heat in a sultry black and gold mini dress, complemented by strappy black heels and a delicate gold necklace inscribed with her son’s name, Halo.

Rapper Glorilla showcased her toned physique in a striking black dress with a front cutout, accessorized with a silver lariat necklace and black heels that completed her edgy look.
