Judge Mathis Faces Legal Separation After 39 Years of Marriage

In a surprising turn of events, Judge Greg Mathis is navigating the tumultuous waters of legal separation from his wife, Linda Rees, after nearly four decades of marriage.

The news broke this month, sending ripples through both the legal and entertainment communities.

Rumors began swirling almost immediately following Linda’s filing, with whispers suggesting infidelity as the catalyst for their split.

However, Judge Mathis has firmly denied these allegations, insisting he has never been unfaithful.

Instead, he acknowledged that he may have neglected Linda throughout their long union.

The couple’s marriage, which began in 1985, has produced four children: Jade, Kamara, Greg Jr., and Amir.

Despite the challenges they face, Judge Mathis remains adamant that the reasons behind the separation are not rooted in betrayal.

He stated, “That is not the reason for the divorce,” pushing back against speculation surrounding his fidelity.

In a candid revelation, Mathis shared that his demanding career as a television judge has often kept him away from home.

He admitted that his professional commitments frequently took precedence over his relationship with Linda, placing her third on his list of priorities.

“Don’t disregard your wife,” he advised, reflecting on the lessons he has learned through this experience.

Since the onset of filming his show in Los Angeles, Mathis had hoped to prioritize his family more but found it challenging to do so.

“I was working toward making my wife a priority, but as you can see, I haven’t,” he lamented, acknowledging the toll his travel schedule has taken on their marriage.

Linda’s official date of separation is recorded as July 17, coinciding with one of Mathis’s many work-related trips.

He expressed regret over the timing, wishing he could have been more present during critical moments in their relationship.

Judge Mathis first gained fame through his self-titled series, which aired for an impressive 24 seasons from 1999 until 2023.

Following the conclusion of his original show, he transitioned into hosting “Mathis Court with Judge Mathis,” which premiered in September 2023.

Despite the strain on their marriage, Mathis remains hopeful about reconciling with Linda.

He described their current relationship as still maintaining a friendship, emphasizing that they are “in the same spot” emotionally.

His desire to win her back is palpable, as he stated, “I’m trying to get my wife back.”

This situation serves as a poignant reminder of the delicate balance between career ambitions and personal relationships.

Mathis’s reflections on his marriage may resonate with many, highlighting the importance of prioritizing loved ones amidst life’s demands.

As he navigates this challenging chapter, Judge Mathis continues to express his longing for reconciliation, hoping that Linda will reconsider the path towards finalizing their separation.
