In a surprising turn of events, Judge Gregory Mathis has addressed rumors swirling around his recent divorce from Linda Mathis after nearly four decades together.
Just two weeks after Linda filed for divorce, the television personality took a moment to share his perspective on the situation and dispel allegations of infidelity.
Speaking candidly to TMZ at Ramis Air Terminal on August 30, Mathis described this period as one of the darkest in his life.
“It’s the worst days of my life,” he admitted, revealing the emotional toll the separation has taken on him.
He expressed a desire to be a positive example for other men, emphasizing the importance of valuing one’s partner.
“Don’t neglect your wife, guys; that’s what happens,” he cautioned.
Mathis acknowledged that given his demanding schedule, it’s understandable why Linda might suspect him of cheating.
He explained, “Neglect can breed suspicion, definitely.” With his frequent absences for work and community service, he recognized that Linda had every right to question his fidelity.
“When you’re gone as much as I am, she has every reason to think that,” he noted.
The couple shares four children—daughters Jade and Kamara, and sons Greg Jr. and Amir.
Mathis revealed that he relocated his show to Los Angeles last February, with hopes of spending more quality time with Linda following their move.
“I committed to being home more and focusing on my wife, but as you can see, I haven’t,” he admitted, reflecting on his busy schedule.
Despite their challenges, Mathis emphasized that they still reside in the same house and maintain a friendship.
“I want to show her that, hopefully, we can work things out together,” he said, expressing a glimmer of hope for reconciliation.
